Richard Phillip Alexander Martin was born in the island of Jamaica. Not quite making it to the hospital, he was delivered in the back of a taxi cab. He is fourth of nine for mother Joyce Petgrave and fifth of eleven for father Phillip Martin. At eighteen months he was taken by his Great grandmother Retinella Knott and Grandmother Alma Hyde, who were responsible for his upbringing. All he knew was church, home and school. Graduated second in his class from Clan Carthy High School in Kingston Jamaica. He later became a Training Officer for the Jamaica Fire Brigade in Kingston. Where he served as a Fire Fighter and an E.M.T for several years. He later migrated to the United State in the year two thousand. Where he met and married his wife Trisha-Ann E. Martin and was blessed with the birth of child.
At the age of six, Richard had a vision of being visited by a man wearing a long white robe shining bright as the sun. He invited him to walk with him saying “Come follow me”. In the vision he walked with the man. Along the way he looked back and saw that he was far from home and decided to turn back. Upon awakening Richard ran and told his Great Grandmother what happen who then ran him away and told him it was just a dream. As he got older he continue to have more dreams of seeing himself preaching, but didn’t take it seriously. It was when he came to the United State. The man of God Minister Goldburne, who spoke into his life telling him God has need of him. Pastor Martin then realized that the dreams were not just dreams, but a glimpses of his future.
One Sunday morning while in church, during worship he had a visitation. This time by a man clothed in fire that said to him “Come follow me”. Upon following the man, he was taken to the top of a mountain. Where as far as he could see there were people buried from the neck down. He was told that all these people are waiting on him to come and deliver them. One night at church while praying. He heard a voice that called him by name asking Richard do you love me? At first he wasn’t sure what to make of it as he looked around and didn’t see anyone, he went back to praying. He heard the voice asking the same question again, Richard do you love me? This time he responded in affirmative. Remembering what the late Minister Goldburne said, Pastor Martin then answered “yes Lord”. Then he heard the voice of the Lord response FEED MY SHEEP! Ever since that moment he has been going wherever he is led to, asked and preaching thus says the Lord.
